Ans:    1- Wear clothes that fully cover the skin.

2-Use mosquito nets which are sprayed with insecticide

3-The surrounding of the house should be kept clean.

4-Spraying for insecticide should be practiced

7.                  What types of blood cells decrease in number during Dengue fever?

Ans:    There is rapid decrease of white blood cells and platelets during dengue fever.

8.                  Write the role of community to control dengue fever.

Ans:    Epidemics can be prevented or controlled by increasing the awareness about dengue fever. People should learn to organize and differentiate between three different stages of dengue fever. Awareness message can be given to the people through print and electronic media i.e. radio, TV, newspapers etc. Teachers should also play their positive role by informing their students about all the factors involved in the spread of disease and about its control.

9.                  Write the effect of Dengue Fever on platelets.

Ans:    Platelets are destroyed. Their number reduces. Patient bleeds from the nose, gums and under the skin.

10.              Patients bleed from the nose, gums and under the skin in dengue fever. Why?

Ans:    In dengue fever, there is sharp decrease in the number of platelets in blood. Because of this, patients bleed from the nose, gums and under the skin.

Q.11.  How does dengue spread?

Ans:    Dengue is spread through the bite of the female mosquito (Aedes aegypti). The mosquito becomes infected when it takes the blood of a person infected with virus. After about one week, the mosquito can transmit the virus while biting a healthy person. Dengue cannot be spread directly from person to person.
